With the rapid, central deployment of systems, gone are the days of worrying about updates breaking your computer. See our <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nist.ac.th\/technology\/knowledge-base\/data-protection\/\">data protection guide<\/a> for more information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>How do I update?<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>On a <strong>Mac<\/strong> computer, you can find updates under\u00a0the <strong>Apple<\/strong> menu &gt; <strong>About this Mac<\/strong> then <strong>Software Update&#8230;<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li>If a software prompts you to update itself, you can click on accept.<\/li>\n<li>On an <strong>iPad<\/strong>, you can find operating system updates in <strong>Settings<\/strong> app &gt; <strong>General<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Software Update<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>On an iPad, to update Apps\u00a0go to App Store app and click on Updates button. (You will see a red number on the app store icon to indicate when you have updates.)<\/li>\n<li>On a Windows machine, merely accept the suggested updates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--danger  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Warning Before Upgrading<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Back up any data which is only on your device.<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to plug in your device.<\/li>\n<li>Do not shut down the machine during process.<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to update when you do not need the device for a few hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<h1>Should I update my Operating System now?<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>An upgraded operating system (OS) will be\u00a0released occasionally by Apple.<\/li>\n<li>We do not recommend you to upgrade\u00a0immediately as first versions can have bugs.<\/li>\n<li>We generally ask that you\u00a0wait until a new OS gets to xx.xx.2 or xx.xx.3 before updating. To help guide you regarding when to upgrade:\n<div>\n<div>10.XX.0 never upgrade<\/div>\n<div>10.XX.1 a bit risky, but you are obviously a daredevil<\/div>\n<div>10.XX.2 safe to update<\/div>\n<div>10.XX.3 (or higher) you should be on most current version always<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you really must be among the first to upgrade, here is an article about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/macos\/how-to-upgrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">how to upgrade<\/a>\u00a0your Mac computer.
