Google Forms are useful for collecting data in the form of surveys or as formative assessments. Forms allow you to give students immediate feedback on their responses.<\/p>\n<h2>Forms Basics<\/h2>\n<p>Google has made an excellent learning resource here.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gsuite.google.com\/learning-center\/products\/forms\/get-started\/#!\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/gsuite.google.com\/learning-center\/products\/forms\/get-started\/#!\/<\/a><\/p>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--info  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Google even helps you!<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\tGoogle has predictive responses &#8211; (e.g. If the question is &#8220;Which day of the week is best for you?,&#8221; it will suggest Monday to Sunday as options). You can just click Add All.    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<p>Here is a tutorial which explains <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/docs\/answer\/2839588\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the settings on your form and how to send the form<\/a>.<\/p>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-messages hts-messages--danger  hts-messages--withtitle hts-messages--withicon \"   >\r\n    \t\t\t<span class=\"hts-messages__title\">Be careful!<\/span>    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\t<p>\r\n    \t\t\t\t\tA common mistake is to send the edit form link to people who you want to fill the form. Be sure to click the send button then get the URL from the pop-up. (DO NOT just send the URL of the form you are editing.)    \t\t\t\t<\/p>\r\n    \t\t\t    \t\t\t\r\n    \t\t<\/div><!-- \/.ht-shortcodes-messages -->\r\n    \t\t\n<h2>Some Advanced Concepts<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>You can <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/docs\/answer\/141062?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">separate your form into sections<\/a> (multiple pages)<\/li>\n<li>You can <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/docs\/answer\/141062?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">send your respondents to different sections<\/a> based on their response to a prior question. (e.g. On first section you ask for Gender, on submit of section\/page 1 of your form, boys will go to section\u00a02, girls to section 3.)<\/li>\n<li>You can utilize the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/docs\/answer\/7032287?hl=en&amp;ref_topic=6063584\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">quiz\u00a0feature and auto assessment\/grading<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>When Sending to NIST Community<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Be sure to use NIST template (see below)<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to add\u00a0&#8220;<strong>?hl=en<\/strong>&#8221; (without quotes) to the end of the URL (see below)<\/li>\n<li>Do not use the options for &#8220;Requires sign-in:&#8221; (If you use them, parents will have to sign in to Google and most do not have Google accounts.)\n<ul>\n<li>untick Restrict to users in NIST and trusted domains<\/li>\n<li>untick Limit to 1 response<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Using NIST Template Google Form<\/h2>\n<p>NIST has created an easy way for you to use the NIST Google Form template to get a consistent look and feel. This gives you a long URL like this.<\/p>\n<pre>https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/sH34...mWtL\/viewform<\/pre>\n<p>If you want to be sure that the respondents see the directions in English (or some other language), you can force the language. (Note, this will not change the language of your questions, just the web page around your questions.<\/p>\n<p>All you have to do is add &#8220;<strong>?hl=en<\/strong>&#8221; (without quotes) to the end of the URL to force the language. Here is a list of <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/admin-sdk\/directory\/v1\/languages\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google language codes<\/a> that you can use.
