You can create up to 100 breakout rooms in a call.<\/li><li>Call participants are distributed across the rooms. To manually move people into different rooms, you can:<ul><li>Enter the participant&#8217;s name directly into a breakout room.<\/li><li>Drag and drop a participant&#8217;s name into another breakout room.<\/li><li>Click Shuffle\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"18\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/W7JxvXtCY7BJ8xA0_hirw2EwZuCbePFiWr9AMD4AQTZIfVm5dQb04FkgUilHjc7ZIjEx=w36\" alt=\"\">\u00a0to randomly mix up the groups.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>At the bottom right, click\u00a0<strong>Open rooms<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tip:<\/strong>\u00a0A notification will show at the bottom of the screen when participants ask for help from the host. To join that participant&#8217;s breakout room, click\u00a0<strong>Join<\/strong>. To return to that question later, click\u00a0<strong>Later<\/strong>. On the breakout room panel, an &#8216;Asked for help&#8217; banner is displayed above rooms that ask for help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a>Optional breakout room features<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a>Learn how safety features work in breakout rooms<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create breakout rooms in advance on Google Calendar<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.google.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">calendar.google.com<\/a>, choose either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For a new meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Create a new Google Calendar event.<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Add Google Meet video conferencing<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Add participants.<\/li><li>Click Change conference settings <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/support-kms-prod\/RtrcpIUNgHMMV5pbU5RGuE9np9wsF5eWsMjy\" alt=\"\">.<\/li><li>On the left, click Breakout rooms&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/support-kms-prod\/Kxjw4sfAMtwnmffXjqg3skBfNV4qtoX2G0GM\" alt=\"\">.<\/li><li>Choose the number of breakout rooms, then select an option:<ul><li>Drag participants into different rooms.<\/li><li>Enter names directly into a room.<\/li><li>Click Shuffle&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"18\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/W7JxvXtCY7BJ8xA0_hirw2EwZuCbePFiWr9AMD4AQTZIfVm5dQb04FkgUilHjc7ZIjEx=w36\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;to mix the groups<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For an existing meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open an existing Google Calendar event.<\/li><li>Click Edit event&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/yx1AcAxTg3PBuVfgt5bHyUL7hmBKlt7U_R4MoITAWafOGb2mnf2Po4qqN1xoMYPFsg=w36-h36\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" alt=\"\">.<\/li><li>Under &#8216;Event details&#8217;, click Change conference settings&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/support-kms-prod\/RtrcpIUNgHMMV5pbU5RGuE9np9wsF5eWsMjy\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" alt=\"\">.<\/li><li>On the left, click Breakout rooms&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/support-kms-prod\/Kxjw4sfAMtwnmffXjqg3skBfNV4qtoX2G0GM\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" alt=\"\">.<\/li><li>Choose the number of breakout rooms, then select an option:<ul><li>Drag participants into different rooms.<\/li><li>Enter their name directly into a room.<\/li><li>Click Shuffle&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/W7JxvXtCY7BJ8xA0_hirw2EwZuCbePFiWr9AMD4AQTZIfVm5dQb04FkgUilHjc7ZIjEx=w36\" width=\"18\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;to mix the groups.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Edit, join or leave breakout rooms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve created breakout rooms, you can make changes to the rooms or join each breakout room to monitor and participate in discussions.<br><br><strong>Tip:<\/strong>&nbsp;Meeting hosts won&#8217;t see chat messages that were exchanged between participants before they join or after they leave a breakout room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To make changes to the participant groups or the number of breakout rooms, click Edit rooms&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/lGAoVN-X7HZ1VXD2bCiUwgrUYzgW2QB8hNsdEAlBZRSTtdiOq39dRJ2R5ljsoDi0CCU=w36\" width=\"18\" alt=\"\">. Once you&#8217;ve made your changes, click&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong>.<ul><li><strong>Tip:&nbsp;<\/strong>Before moving to a different room, participants must click&nbsp;<strong>Join<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>To join an individual breakout room, next to the breakout room number, click&nbsp;<strong>Join<\/strong>.<\/li><li>To leave all breakout rooms and return to the main room, next to the current breakout room, click&nbsp;<strong>Leave<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">End breakout rooms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the breakout rooms panel, at the top right, click Close rooms&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/FxzLoG3CSWVVHlBpriXBJ-J0r7ww-D47l6vBJ1SrKWixEPrnpYU54sNr23x-KXMwRoY=w36\" width=\"18\" alt=\"\">.<\/li><li>In the notification window that appears, click&nbsp;<strong>Close all rooms<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong>&nbsp;Participants have 30 seconds to finish their breakout room discussion before they&#8217;re automatically moved back to the main room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To close all rooms before the 30-second timer runs out, go to the breakout rooms panel and click Close rooms&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/FxzLoG3CSWVVHlBpriXBJ-J0r7ww-D47l6vBJ1SrKWixEPrnpYU54sNr23x-KXMwRoY=w36\" width=\"18\" alt=\"\">.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You can use breakout rooms in Google Meet.
