The earbuds chosen by NIST have several sizes, so you can put smaller cups on the earbud if the student&#8217;s ear is too small.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Etymotic Research - Earphone Insertion Video Guide\" width=\"643\" height=\"362\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8KwXEqe6Gq4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NIST does not have a booklist of materials needed for the year<\/li>\n<li>Need headphones for listening to media<\/li>\n<li>Students will do more audio recording in future, so need better recording<\/li>\n<li>Student ears are variable, so we need different sizes of ear-buds<\/li>\n<li>Therefore, we need variable size earbud headsets with a mic<\/li>\n<li>Not share within class for germs\/responsibility<\/li>\n<li>Stationery store will have some in stock for teams to order (as stationery)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each student has one pair<\/li>\n<li>Each pair should be labelled<\/li>\n<li>Teachers responsible to have\/make a system for keeping in bags\/box or hanging in class<\/li>\n<li>Year level orders new headsets from stationery as needed<\/li>\n<li>Leaving students\u2019 headsets get recycled to newcomer after a cleaning<\/li>\n<li>Teachers responsible for passing a full year level worth of functioning* headsets (120) on to next year level\u00a0labelled with &#8216;student name&#8217; or labelled as &#8216;spare&#8217; for new student<\/li>\n<li>Teachers responsible for separating at start of year by class<\/li>\n<li>Year 6 headsets go home with students.<\/li>\n<li>Year 2 gets new headsets each year from IT budget<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* functioning means: complete, both cups attached,<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Headsets are provided for each student in Years 2-6 in order to improve sound recording quality and volume (microphone), cut out background noise (microphone), and to\u00a0decrease classroom noise (headphones).
