DUST and DREAMS

Comment

This is the new original musical created by Mr. Craig & Mr. Mark made exclusively for Year 2 and 3 students.

Rehearsals will be conducted during ECA time on Mondays and Wednesdays. It is very important that students attend BOTH rehearsals every week.

Our 1st Rehearsal starts on 1 February 2016 (Monday)!

Premise: Bedtime for an 8-year old can be a difficult time. Parents are keen to get their child into bed early and get through the night-time rituals, while the child is often finding ways to stay up. Some are just keen to play, while others may be scared of the dark and afraid of their room. Into this world comes ‘The Sandman”, inadvertently invoked by the parents, a mythical being who sprinkles stardust in children’s eyes to help them sleep or break their resistance, whether they believe in him or not. This opens up a world of fantasy where it is unclear what is real and imagined and where the manifestation of dreams can be comforting, optimistic and bright, or sometimes worrying, scary and dark.

    Hi Craig, Tina and Mark,
My friend sent me your website as she thought I might be interested as I am the drama teacher at a public school in Sydney, Australia. My friend’s grandson goes to your school.
I write my own plays for the children (ages 7 to 12), 4 or so each year, which I have been doing for 15 years. Sometime I run out of inspiration! I so loved what you are doing with the children and wondered whether you would object if I used some of your songs and ideas for my plays this year. Our plays only run for 10 mins. so much adjustment would need to be done. If you agree could I use some of your music and lyrics from ” Dust and Dreams” and “Lost in Space”?

I think what you have done is so talented and creative. The children are so lucky to have such amazing teachers! Hope to hear from you.

    • Hi Jennie
Thanks for writing to us. We were happy to hear from you and to know that you are working on similar projects and in similar ways to us. I must admit that my colleague Mark and I would be uncomfortable with our songs being used to form other shows created by someone else. They are already within shows and have been designed specifically for those. One of our shows, Creepytown, has also been taken on by Maverick Musicals.
We have a website – and you’d be welcome to take a look at that – and also our FB page and blog have other things you might be interested in. Dust and Dreams was our first attempt to write a smaller show for younger kids, so we may be able to add to the repertoire in the future.
We wish you luck with your ventures. It sounds like your kids are getting a great drama and music theatre experience.
