Uploading and sharing a file in Google Drive

It is sometimes necessary to share large files with other people.

  1. Save or find your file on your machine in a location you know (in our example, the Desktop).
  2. Open Google Drive in your browser from your Gmail by clicking the Google apps launcher in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Click the Google drive icon.
  4. Once in Google drive, grab your video from your desktop and drag it into your Google drive. 
  5.  The upload progress will show up in a little box in the bottom right hand corner. Wait until it finishes uploading.   
  6. Find the file in your Drive. Then click to select the uploaded file then click the share icon in the top menu.
  7. Click “Get sharable link.”
  8. Click “Copy Link” button to copy the link to the file.If you want anyone with access to think link to be able to edit the file, you can select the access from “can view” to “can edit”.Click Done when finish.

9. You can now paste this link on a new email message or share it in a Google Classroom.
