Secondary Bookable Devices
Secondary school has IT office where items can be borrowed (See IT bookable devices above).
Secondary Student Devices
In secondary school, students are each issued a school Macbook Air laptop for their use to support their learning. Students use them at school and at home and keep them during the summer.
Printing Devices
- Ricoh printer/copiers are housed in various offices for low volume copying/printing. Multi-function printer/scanner/copiers are located throughout the school.
Personal Devices
- Since we provide computers for your school and home use, you really don’t need to bring a computer; however, we realize that some of you will want to do so.
- NIST allows all members of the community to use their own personal devices on the network. Details about logins are found on the Internet and Network Access page. Personal devices are subject to bandwidth restrictions in order to prioritize our internet connection for educational activities on NIST devices.
- Teachers can easily use a number of phone providers. Data plans for smartphones are relatively inexpensive.
- For purchasing personal IT, the closest to school is IT Mall, in Fortune Tower on the intersection of Ratchadapiskek road and Asok-Din Daeng road. Take the MRT to Rama 9 station. Pantip Plaza is the biggest but a little harder to get to. A good place to get mobile phones is MBK at National Stadium BTS station.
- There are many internet service providers in BKK. Some condo buildings will require a certain provider. TOT is the national phone company. You may want to choose a mobile, cable and internet package from one company. (True, TOT, KSC, 3BB, etc.)
- The IT Dept. will provide support at school for personal devices to help you with setting up NIST services on them.
