Turnitin Guide

This page explains NIST usage of turnitin.com.
 
For Students:

For Teachers:

  • During the summer, all new secondary school teachers are invited to create a turnitin account. If you were not invited but need an account, please send an email to veracross@nist.ac.th requesting the Turnitin welcome email.
  • Follow the instructions in the email to create your account.
  • Then use this Turnitin Quick Start Guide to make a Class AND an Assignment.
  • Making a class (Instructions below in QuickStart Guide, but please consider these NIST-Specific points).
    * use Yr Level and Subject followed by any other info. (e.g. Y07 Science , Y10 English, Y12 Economics SL, Y12 Mandarin B)
    * Do not need to import student list. Have them join your class.
  • Creating an assignment (Instructions below in QuickStart Guide, but please consider these NIST-Specific points).
    • under More Options, you can fine tune to include/exclude small matches, quoted material, and bibliographic information to refine the originality reports
    • the school advocates making the class show originality reports by default (teachers can block originality reporting on any individual assignment if needed)
    • the school advocates using immediately (can overwrite reports until due date)
    • exclude bibliographic material
    • exclude quoted materials
    • exclude small matches (3 words)
    • allow students to see originality reports
    • Ability to view Originality Reports
  • Submitting Assignments
  • Originality Reports
