Your Mac computer or iPad come with iMovie installed for making movies, and it is plenty powerful to make great video projects. Adobe Premiere is a more advanced application that you can get installed by IT Department if you need more than iMovie offers.
Adobe Premiere is a very powerful video editing tool – much much more powerful than Windows Live Movie Maker or iMovie. The layout and the functionality of the program takes a bit longer than those other programs but once you get the hang of it you can do some amazing things. Basically most video effects you see in the movies can be recreated in this program. To make things a little easier there is a large community of people who use Adobe Premiere and there are hundreds of great “how to” videos to demonstrate anything you can think of.
