Feedback on Assessments

Text Feedback Using Google Classroom Comment Bank

  • Each teacher has a comment bank that spans all classrooms.
  • You can manage your own comments (edit/delete).
  • Comments can even have URL/links.
  • You insert one of those comments in a Comment box by typing # then a keyword from the comment bank into a new comment on the student’s document.

Here is a video explaining the feature (Start at 0:39).

Verbal Feedback Read & Write Chrome Extension

Here is a short video to let you know how it works. Then follow steps below for setup.

  • Get the texthelp Read&Write extension for Google Chrome
  • Apply for the Free Premium version for educators using Jay Priebe as district admin and product_registration@nist.ac.th as the district admin email. Here is the link.
  • Wait a day until you receive an email.
  • Once you are accepted, you will begin to see the Voice Note icon in the Read&Write toolbar when you are on google docs.
  • Students will need to get the same extension but not apply for the teacher version in order to see the Play button in the comments left on their documents (else, they see a link to the audio file).
  • FYI: Your audio files are stored in your Google Drive in a My Voice Notes folder with a subfolder for each document you use. Do not delete that folder.

Veracross Assignment Feedback

  • Veracross has a feature to allow teachers to annotate assignments and provide text feedback.
