How to Print Guide

This video shows you how to print from Google documents or from files on your device.

Printing Guidelines

NIST believes in sustainability. Our printing guidelines are shaped by our desire to protect the environment (use as little paper as possible) and to use fiscal resources for other things at the school (spend less on printing to enable more expenditure on other aims like service).

  • Firstly, before printing, be sure it is absolutely necessary to print this thing (this saves paper and money).
  • Secondly, be sure to use double-sided whenever possible or find some used paper to put through the manual tray on the printer (this saves paper).
  • Thirdly, if you must print, please do so with black ink rather than coloured ink (this saves money we pay to the printing company).
Printing Costs

Here is a table of printing costs.

STUDENTS

  • Students can print in labs when necessary for class work.
  • Students can print to Library printer by using “followme.”
  • Elementary students can print by using AirPrint in most applications.

STAFF

  • Copy Center for High Volume > 25
    • NIST has a copy center equipped with Risograph and photocopy machines which are suitable for higher volume printing/copying jobs (> 25 pages/copies)
    • Deliver original and fill in form
  • Multi-Function Scanner/Printer/Copiers in Offices
    • NIST Secondary, Elementary, and business offices are equipped with Ricoh scanner-photocopier-printers for print/copy volumes of 1-25 in black and white or color. The Ricoh machines also have scanning functions to a network folder.
  • Multi-Function Scanner/Printer/Copiers for Low Volume (1-5 copies)
    • NIST provides all areas with color multi-function printers for printing student work when necessary. Please keep volume low on these machines.
